Magnify Automatic Radiator Bleeder
Automatic Radiator Bleeder
Automatic Radiator Bleeder
Heating
Aladdin
{ } During normal running of the central heating, air can build up in the system, reducing radiator heat and efficiency. This is fixed by bleeding the radiators, but by fitting the Auto Vent, radiators are bled automatically, without you needing to do anything. The result is a hot to the top radiator from the same energy, and lower heating bills. Fitting is simple and requires only an adjustable spanner. Usually only one Auto Vent is required. Available in two models, standard and micro - that fit all known radiators. Only one Auto Vent is required, as usually one radiator is prone to the air problem more than the others in the system. The HV30C operates vertically and horizontally on 1/2" tappings. (This is the one to choose for standard home radiators and modern towel rails**). The Micro operates on 5/6/7 mm 1/8" and 1/4" tappings. (For specialist design radiators, such as cast iron radiators, some towel rails, Quinn (Barlo) radiators, and Center radiators) ** For a 1/2" British standard thread, the threaded hole in the tapping at the top of the radiator is approximately 20mm diameter - you should be able to fit your index finger in the tapping. The plug screwed in to the tapping will either be a chrome hexagonal valve, or a 'plug' with a square cavity in it. Installing the auto vent is a simple DIY job that doesn

Magnify Radflek Radiator Reflectors
Radflek Radiator Reflectors
Radflek Radiator Reflectors
Heating
Miba Europe
{ } You'll be able to turn your central heating down, save money on your energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint. User friendly and discreet, once installed Radiator Reflectors are invisible from view. One sheet will cover two average radiators. Radflek is made from a laminated heat reflecting aluminium membrane, developed by NASA for their space programme, to reflect sun's radiation. It is coated so it doesn't oxidise, unlike normal aluminium foil. Radflek radiator reflectors have been treated to stay shiny with a special coating that also makes it very touch and strong. Although aluminium kitchen foil would be reflective at first, it would quickly start to oxidise and become dull. It is also much weaker than Radflek, and would be prone to rips and tears. Not an effective substitute! View all the eco products in our section, or click on any of the links on the left hand side to see more.

Magnify Floorboard Gap Insulation Seal
Floorboard Gap Insulation Seal
Floorboard Gap Insulation Seal
Heating
DraughtEx
{ } With no need for adhesive, you can fill gaps in floorboards invisibly, as the colour of the filler mimics the natural shadows between boards. Comes with a free applicator, and will completely seal a range of different size gaps. You can also use floorboard gap seal to fill gaps elsewhere, such as in sash windows and skirting boards (the gap between floorboards and skirting board can be a source of draughts). To block skirting board draughts, start in one corner of the room and work your way round, cutting the length of seal at the end of each wall. To stop draughts from sash windows, use a blunt knife to push the seal into the gaps between the glass and the frame, and any gaps in the frame itself. Please note: the floorboard gap seal is stretchy, and as you apply it to the gaps in your floorboards, you will be stretching it as you seal the gaps. Therefore, a 40m roll will be more than enough to seal gaps totalling 40m in length. View all the eco products in our section, or click on any of the links on the left hand side to see more.

Magnify The Ecoflap
The Ecoflap
The Ecoflap
Heating
Ecoflap
{ } N.B. Sticking the Ecoflap to your door instead of bolting it, using an adhesive such as a kitchen/ bathroom sealant, is also okay, for example on metal doors, or if preferred. Why won't the letter box inside flap blow open? The product is finely balanced - the plate is biased so that the opening force is counteracted by a greater closing force. Why is it draught proof? The plate won't rattle, either by wind force or passing traffic rumbling by, thus no cold air or rain will filter in, and no heat will escape. Ecoflap is also rain and snow proof! Why is it classed as eco friendly? Ecoflaps contribute towards saving energy costs. The letter box can be a "silent culprit" for losing heat. It has been estimated that up to 27% of heat can be lost through one. The outside plate on my letter box is metal. Will it be compatible with a plastic one inside? Yes, a metal plate can contribute to cold air coming through to the inside plate and consequently inside your house. If the inside plate is ABS - a form of plastic - it will act as a barrier with lower thermal conducting properties. My doors bang when there is a "through"draught - will it stop this? It will certainly help the situation. There is no passage of air through the plate, in either direction. Why is it safer? There are no springs, magnets or catches to bite fingers - or damage mail. Why is Ecoflap so simple to use? The Ecoflap is lightweight and conveniently operated with one hand. It adjusts to the size of delivery and there are no components to break. The product is easily fitted having a small lip along the lower edge that rests onto your existing lower ledge of your aperture. This lines up perfectly with the outside plate. Screw caps cover each of the screw holes of the flange. Alternatively, it may be fitted with adhesive on metal or upvc doors if preferred. Calfire
{ } If your stove is too cool, there is a risk of a build up of creosote desposits, which can lead to a fire in the flue. If the stove is too hot, you are wasting fuel, and risk damaging the stove itself, reducing the life of the stove. Great for use with the . this thermometer is not designed to be placed on the stovepipe, as it has been calibrated for the much hotter surface of the stove. Magnify Radiator Booster Mk3
Radiator Booster Mk3
Radiator Booster Mk3
Heating
Radiator Booster
{ } Simply place a Radiator Booster on top of a hot radiator, the hole facing down, and plug it in. It'll heat a room in up to half the time, allowing the boiler to shut down sooner, saving heating time and cost - for a running cost of about 30p a year! Andrew, zapcarbon.com There's a thermostat inside the Radiator Booster which means the fan only comes on when the radiator reaches 30 degrees celsius. This makes it very energy efficient. If the fan came on when the radiator was not warm, cold air would be pushed round the room... which would defeat the object! (NB 32 degrees celsius is the radiator temperature NOT the room temperature. A typical radiator contains water that will be heated to 70 to 90 degrees celsius when hot.) This will depend on how you use the Radiator Booster, and for how long. But UK energy providers state that reducing your thermostat setting by one degree Celsius could save the average home

Magnify Heatkeeper Radiator Insulation Panels
Heatkeeper Radiator Insulation Panels
Heatkeeper Radiator Insulation Panels
Heating
Joulesave
{ } With proven energy savings of up to 20%, the cost of installing Heatkeeper Radiator Panels in a typical home can pay back in less than a year. The panels can be cut to size, are long-lasting and simple to fit. They come supplied with easy-to-follow fitting instructions and double sided self-adhesive tape. Andrew, zapcarbon.com Without them, some of the heat from a radiator is wasted on heating the wall behind it. This heat seeps through the wall and goes outside. When you fit the panels, the wall behind the radiator is insulated and the heat from the back of the radiator is directed back into the room. Also, without radiator panels, heated air from behind the radiator rises up the wall and then spreads out across the ceiling first. The shape of the Heatkeeper panels stops the air rising so much, and directs warm air back into the room. Following the instructions supplied and the cutting guides on the panel itself, HEATKEEPER Energy Saving Radiator Panels can easily be adapted to most radiator types and sizes with a pair of common household scissors. It takes 2 - 2

Magnify Ecofan Stove Fan
Ecofan Stove Fan
Ecofan Stove Fan
Heating
Nigels Eco Store
{ } The Ecofan generates its own electricity and does not rely on batteries or mains power. The cleverly designed blades ensure the best air movement, the fan starts and stops automatically, adjusting speed to the stove temperature. Ideal for any home fitted with a wood burning stove, or even narrow boats, canal boats and barges. We think it looks great too! Use a to get the best performance out of the stove fan. The Ecofan is a heat powered fan that circulates the warm air from a wood burning stove, without using batteries or mains power. The Ecofan's power comes from a thermoelectric module, a small generator with two semiconductors. When there is a difference in temperature between the two semiconductors, this causes a current to flow which is used to power the motor of the Ecofan. This is known as the Seebeck effect.
